Mechanical Repair Technician

Bourne's Auto Center is Massachusett's largest independent car dealership. We have 25 service bays and state of the art equipment. Our customer base provides over 30 appointments per day and growing. We are looking for Experienced Technicians of all levels. Must be a team player, with a positive attitude. Clean driving record is required.

Mechanical Repair Technician

A. Main Function :

Mechanical Repair Techs perform skilled repair and maintenance on automobiles and light trucks with related duties as required. Some specifics that you will do are to service auto equipment, inspect, diagnose, and repair mechanical, electrical, and other defects on vehicles. Which includes tune-ups, relining and adjusting brakes, tire replacement and balancing, steering gears, starters, generators, universal joints, and minor body repair. You will also need to be able to discuss service and repair problems with the supervisor.

  • Duties & Responsibilities :
  • Keeps equipment available for use by inspecting and testing vehicles; completing preventive maintenance such as, engine tune-ups, oil changes, tire rotation and changes, wheel balancing, replacing filters
  • Maintains vehicle functional condition by listening to operator complaints; conducting inspections; repairing engine failures; repairing mechanical / electrical systems malfunctions; replacing parts / components
  • Follow checklists to ensure that all important parts are examined, including belts, hoses, steering systems, spark plugs, brake and fuel systems, wheel bearings, and other potentially troublesome areas.
  • Verifies vehicle serviceability by conducting test drives; adjusting controls and systems
  • Complies with state vehicle requirements by testing engine, safety, and combustion control standards
  • Maintains vehicle appearance by cleaning, washing, and detailing
  • Maintains vehicle records by recording service and repairs.
  • Keeps shop equipment operating by following operating instructions; troubleshooting breakdowns; maintaining supplies; performing preventive maintenance; calling for repairs
  • Contains costs by using warranty; evaluating service and parts options
  • Keeps supplies ready by inventorying stock; placing orders; verifying receipt
  • Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading technical publications
  • Follow supervisors' instructions as to which parts to restore or replace and how much time the job should take

  • Education and/or Experience :
  • A High School Degree with coursework in vehicle repairs and/or 1 year of relevant working experience preferred
  • Preferred prior experience in a garage, auto repair center or auto dealership
  • Goal to continue field related coursework to enhance overall knowledge of vehicle repair
  • Position Requirements :
  • Basic working knowledge and proficiency in vehicle repair techniques
  • Ability to maintains organized and neat work area
  • Excellent diagnostic skills
  • Good verbal and written skills, ability to communicate and express ideas clearly with both internal & external customers
  • Solid time management skills with ability to prioritize, organize and successfully balance multiple tasks and requests
  • Proven ability to interact successfully with multiple levels of the organization
  • Must possess a high degree of organizational skill with ability to be detail oriented
  • Ability to present self and Bourne's Auto Center in a professional manner in all customer communications and actions
  • Positive attitude, morale booster, ability to influence others in a positive manner
